URN.Michael Longole, the Mt. Moroto Region Police spokesperson, says that Enatu was shot while returning from a shot call during an ambush against cattle rustlers at Kokomongole village in Akuyam parish, Kakomongole Sub County around 2:00 am.
Nakapiripirit Police are holding one of their own on suspicion of murder by shooting. The suspect is Probation Police Constable Charles Olyet, who is attached to Kakomongole Ant- Stock Theft Unit-ASTU Zonal headquarters in Nakapiripirit district.
He is being investigated for shooting to death Probation Police Constable, Charles Enatu on Monday night. Olyet is locked up at Nakapiripirit Central Police Station to help with the investigations.
Both the deceased and suspect are part of the newly recruited 1500 officers deployed to reinforce efforts to curb cattle rustling in Karamoja after being passed out last month.

Preliminary information shows that Enatu failed to identify himself having left the group that had already laid an ambush targeting the rustlers prompting Olyet to fire at him.
Police say that Enatu was rushed Tokora Health Centre where he died shortly upon arrival. Longole says that a team of detectives led by the DPC Nakapiripirit and other ASTU officers from Moroto Regional headquarters visited the scene of the shooting.
He also says a rifle used in the shooting has been exhibited with 84 rounds of ammunition. The deceased ‘s body was lying at Tokora health centre pending post-mortem by the time of filing this story.
