(URN) Two rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces-ADF have been reported killed by a joint military operation led by UPDF and the DR Congo national army- FADRC forces in Kikingi, about 25 kilometres from Mwenda in North Kivu.
A PK-machine gun with 300 rounds of ammunition was also retrieved from the rebels.
One soldier of the FARDC was also wounded during the cross fire.
The UPDF deputy spokesperson Ronald Kakurungu said the two rebels were killed during a joint mobile operation.
Kakurungu maintains that UPDF and the DRC force are determined to take on the ADF group adding that since the operation was launched last month over 60 rebels have surrendered, 34 captured and four camps destroyed.
URN reporter has also learnt that one civilian was killed by the ADF rebels and his motorcycle burnt in Mabondo.
The victim was on his way to his farm when he met the ADF fighters who killed him on the spot.
Last month, Ugandan troops launched air and artillery raids against ADF key bases in the Eastern DRC in an operation code-named “Operation Shujaa”.
