Leaders in the National Unity platform have converged in Masaka to pay homage to one of their own, Bobi Wine bodyguard Frank Ssenteza who died last December.
Ssenteza was a member of then presidential cnadidate Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert’s security team.
Ssenteza was injured during a return from a violent campaign day in Masaka in which various journalists including Ashraf Kasirye(Ghetto TV), Daniel Lutaaya(NBS), and Ali Mivule(NTV) had been injured in a scuffle involving Masaka police and supporters of Kyagulanyi.
After first aid at Masaka regional referral hospital. Kyagulanyi’s team drive from Masaka to Kampala rushing the critically injured Kasirye to Rubaga hospital only to meet a roadblock mounted by police and the army at Busega.
According to the NUP account of events that fateful day, Ssenteza was knocked dead by a speeding army truck trying to Catch up with Kyagulanyi and the ambulance carrying Kasirye.
The army however came out to deny these allegations saying Ssenteza simply fell off one off one of Kyagulanyi’s own campaign vehicles.
Leader of opposition Mathias Mpuuga who represented Bobi wine at the memorial wrote on his twitter account;
“I’m representing President @HEBobiwine at our fallen comrade Frank Ssenteza’s memorial service. It’s a year since Frank, who was part of the President’s security team, was overrun by a military truck at Busega in the heat of the presidential campaigns #RIPFrank
