Makerere University guild president released the status report on COVID 19 surge in the university hospital today.
“Following a communication from the Guild Minister of Health and a subsequent impromptu visit by the students Guild Leadership to the university Hospital Yesterday December 28th 2021 two significant findings were made.
For every ten students tested atleast 3 or 4 tested positive for COVID-19,” in part read the report.
According to the report findings, the university hospital ran out of test kits,limiting its capacity to effectively test students consequently.
The report also revealed that students are being charged up to Shs100000 to get tested and to acquire basic medication by the facility.
“The purpose of this report is to ascertain how the office will manage students during the examinations under current circumstances and that those confirmed positive and are under medication are not of a health risk to those who are not infected and yet are able to sit for their Examination.The school of law as a case scenario was able to adopt a mechanism that was balanced and non threatening to the safety of both infected and non infected students yesterday on 28.December 2021.
