The LCIII chairperson of Minakulu town council Oyam district Okello Akol says soon they will start arresting children who are not going to school alongside their parents to face the consequences.
\Akol says the number of pupils at primary schools is falling every day because children are not thinking about the importance of studying.
He says any parent who will be found keeping his or her children without taking them to school will automatically be fined 50,000 shillings per child found at home without going to the school.
He gave an example in Minakulu Primary School he says at the beginning of the term this year had 2,600 but now their enrollment has dropped to 1,800 meaning that 800 pupils have just stopped going to school.
Geoffrey Omara, a concerned parent of Minakulu Primary School says some parents take their children daily to the garden, not thinking of sending them to school.
He says authorities must take action on such parents who are not taking their children to school, arrest and punish them.
Alobo Betty, also a parent at Adel Primary school in Minakulu town council of Oyam district says children who are not going to school which is why they are becoming thieves in the community.
Minakulu town council has four government-run primary Schools namely Minakulu Church Primary School, Adel primary school, Opuk Primary School and Apworocero Primary School.
