Dr. Henry G. Mwebesa the Director General of Health Services at the ministry of health has given an update on government measures to curb COVID 19.
In his statement addressed to district health officers in Busia, Tororo, Amuru, Rakai, Kabale, Ntungamo and Kasese Districts, the DG reveals a scrap of the mandatory COVID 19 test for travelers entering Uganda.
1. Uganda will recognize COVID-l9 PCR results from East African pommunity (EAC) accredited laboratories that were jointly accredited by EAC for Covid-19 testing. Travellers should come with Covid-l9 results taken within 72 hours.
2. COVID-19 PCR results are curently not required for fully vaccinated travelers including truck drivers to cross the land border of entry
Mwebesa also ordered all private laboratories to exit the border points with immediate effect.
This is therefore to request all Private Laboratories to exit border points of entry premises immediately as it is no longer necessary to conduct any COVID-l9 tests at land border points of entry.”
