Leaders in Busoga on Saturday repented before Christ for All Nations-CFAN church leader after a 32-year standoff that led to the humiliation of their then leader, Reinhard Bonnke.
Late Bonnke, the founder of CFAN and his ministry was renowned for organizing mega crusades in different countries, across Africa.
Bonnke died at the age of 79 years in 2019 and he was succeeded by Daniel Kolenda, who currently heads the USA-based CFAN Church.
It is alleged that Bonnke, staged their first mega gospel crusade in Jinja district, however, the then central government representative, Cleophas Karashani, pulled him off the pulpit, accusing him of sound pollution and deterring people from working.
Bonnke, is reported to have cursed Jinja town, which leaders from the Busoga sub-region attribute to underdevelopment.
Michael Mubiike, an aide of Karashani at the time says that the story of the curse has haunted the Busoga sub-region for about 32 years. He believes that their reconciliation with the current CFAN leaders is a total relief.
Citing the gospel of Mark: 9:4-5, which empowers preachers to curse those who reject the gospel of Jesus Christ, Bwiino argues that, Bonnke’s humiliation has negatively affected the region.
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Woman MP Kamuli, Rebecca Kadaga, says that CFAN’s return to preaching the gospel is a positive attribute, geared towards enhancing the region’s spiritual and economic transformation.
The Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Paul Naimanhe, said that repentance has opened up a new chapter between God and his people.
