Mubiru Ngoobi, a Bod aboda rider and resident of Lumuli in Seeta Town Mukono municipality is rotting away at his home after being shot twice in the buttocks. It is alleged that on July 8th, 2022, Ngoobi parked his motorcycle in the Next lounge car parking space while talking to his colleagues.
However, a police officer he identifies as Patrick Okiru from Seeta police station came out of the bar found in the same parking space and fired at Ngoobi and his friend. Unfortunately, Ngoodi was hit twice as he tried to disperse with his colleagues. To date, Ngoobi is yet to establish where Okiru shot him. Ngoobi’s right lower part of the body is swelling in addition to experiencing painful urination.
According to Ngoobi, after the shooting, he received first aid at Mukono general hospital and later underwent surgery at Mulago National Referral hospital where the doctors successfully removed the bullets lodged in his body.
Ngoobi is unable to work and is stuck at home with his family, which comprised his homestay wife, three children, and his elderly mother. Joseph Egesa, the LC I Chairperson of Lumuli Cell, says that he learned about the incident and is yet to establish the motive behind the shooting. He however notes that the accused officer is known for drinking and turning violent.
Ngoobi’s wife, Aisha Nalubega, says that they are going through a hard time treating her husband and feed as a family. She notes that they tried following the matter at Seeta police station but the investigating officer told them to settle the matter as individuals.
URN has tried to contact Okiru but his known number couldn’t go through. The Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, says that Okiru was enjoying his evening in the area and went to help himself where he was confronted by thugs and shot in the air.
“He did not intend to shoot him because he is the same boda boda man he uses whenever he wants to send a Boda boda person. The pistol was submitted to the government analytical laboratory for analysis as investigations continue,” Onyango said.
