The 23- year old started the race with good energies, clearing the barriers and kept herself in the leading pack, first five in particular for close to four laps, but she lost the momentum and started fading in the fifth lap and lost the leading pack.
The race remained tight between Kenyan turned Kazakhstan Norah Jeruto and Ethiopia’s Werkuha Getachew until the last 100m when Jeruto set a two seconds difference and complete the race as the winner.
Despite having an average start in the semifinal heats where she finished fifth, the Olympic gold medalist Chemutai was one of the favorites for a podium finish curtesy of the history she was carrying from Tokyo.
Chemutai 23, entered the battle to write her history as Uganda’s third female world champion after her compatriot Halima Nakaayi and Dorcus Inzikuru, but a tough competition over the distance did not let her live the dream.
