Sironko police are holding two men accused of stealing three computers and an assortment of items like bulbs and wires from Budadiri Girls Secondary School. Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region spokesperson identifies the suspects as Moses Wajambuka,27, and Yefesi,32, both residents of Gibinda cell in Budadiri town council.
According to Taitika, the two suspects were part of over 1,000 youths from different catholic churches in the Eastern region that came for a week-long youth conference held at Kalawa Christ the King Catholic Church in Budadiri town council organized by Tororo catholic Archdiocese last week.
He explained that during the conference, the participants were using Budadiri Girl’s secondary school for accommodation, which gave the suspects a chance to break into a computer lab and steal the items. According to Taitika, when the conference ended on Saturday, the school management discovered that the computer lab had been broken into and 3 computers and several other items stolen.
Francis Giboji, the Director of studies at Budadiri girl’s secondary school, says that they conducted a search jointly with the police that led to the arrest of the duo when they found one of the computers in their house. According to Giboji, they still searching for the two other missing computers and items. Patrick Wataya, the youth chairperson of Kalawa Christ the King Catholic Church has condemned what the suspects did, saying that the law should take its course.
