For the second time in three months, flash floods have swept through Ngenge Sub County in Kween District displacing at least 1,000 households.
The floods caused by heavy rains on Wednesday destroyed gardens and damaged houses.
Johnson Chelimo, a resident of the area said his house has been submerged leaving him and his family without shelter.
“Am just staying with my friend at his home because my home is completely damaged,” he said.
Joel Cherop, another resident said many children sleep in the cold.
Sylvia Awor, the chief administrative officer Kween, said flooding occurred in what she called the lower belt and that she directed the district staff responsible for disaster and risk management to assess the extent of the damage.
In May, some 800 families in the two sub-counties of Ngenge and Sundet were displaced after heavy rains triggered floods in the area. The floods also killed livestock and destroyed more than 1,000 acres of planted maize, sorghum and beans.
