The Uganda U23 team the Kobs will not be part of the second round of the U23 Africa cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers slanted this month due to financial constraints.
The bad news to the sports fraternity was confirmed by the FUFA President during the recently 98th FUFA Annual General Meeting that took place in Gulu.
“The FUFA Executive Committee took a painful decision to withdraw the U23 Team from the AFCON Qualifiers where we were supposed to play against Guinea due to financial constraints.” Magogo said.
The Kobs had to play their first leg on 20th October in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and the second leg slanted on 27th October in Uganda.
The aggregate winning team was supposed to play against Nigeria or Tanzania in the final round of qualification.
This means that the chances for U23 team the Kobs to represent Uganda in the 2024 Summer Olympics to be held in France is no more.

The tournament was founded in 2011 and changed it’s name form the CAF U-23 Championship to the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, similar to the senior’s version, Africa Cup of Nations
