Shop attendant John Sentamu commonly known as Kelly Slender who is accused of disturbing the speaker of parliament Anita Among’s peace on Twitter was on Thursday sent on remand until October 27.
According to Sentamu’s Lawyer Jeremiah Keeya Mwanje, his 26 year old client was picked up by a drone at his workplace more than a month ago in connection with the inappropriate joke he made about the third highest ranked officer in the country Speaker of Parliament Anita Among on his Twitter account @JOHNKELLYTON.
Mwanje said, it took them time looking for John Sentamu whereabouts until they found him at the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) in Kireka. Sentamu was arraigned before Buganda Road Court almost a month later before being sent to Luzira to await trial.
The case was supposed to be heard yesterday 19 October however without a reason, the magistrate adjourned it to October 27.
“The magistrate refused to hear the bail application and sent him back to jail until October 27. We were not given any reasons as to why the case could not proceed.” said Mwanje a lawyer for John Sentamu.
Just this month, president Yoweri Museveni signed on the Computer Misuse Act 2022 however a number of activists and Lawyers have gone to court of law to challenge it and recently is council Ssemakadde who went to East African court.
