Acholi and West Nile provinces have stormed the semifinals of the FUFA DRUM tournament. West Nile Province qualified after beating Kampala Province 2-0 at Bugolobi Coffee Grounds in Kampala on Sunday.
Earlier last month, West Nile beat Kampala 4-0 during a game played in Arua district. The West Nile Province nicknamed the Rhinos secured their victory through Ahmed Amayo`s 52nd-minute goal and that of Ibrahim Dada in the 77th minute.
On the other hand, Acholi Province advanced to the semifinal after managing a 2-2 all-draw with hosts Buganda at Kasana playgrounds in Luweero district. They won the game on the aggregates of 4 against 3. The Elephants started lowly with a 1-2 lead by the host in the first half of the game.
However, they turned the table in the last minutes of the second half of the game with an equalizer from substitute Dominic Ayella. Vianne Ssekajugo put his side, Buganda Province in the lead with his goals in the 11th and 32nd minutes of the game.
But Acholi province fought harder and secured their win with its first goal coming from Denis Ojara in the 24th minute of the game and second goal from Dominic Ayella in the last minutes of the game. Acholi Province beat Buganda Province 2-1 in the first leg of the quarter-finals played in Kitgum Municipality.
