Police has said that new findings show that the Nabweru inferno in which two people were killed were in love and that the key suspect in the matter could have been behind it.
Police also say that Ms Grace Susan Kateitsi according to the preliminary findings, is behind the plot and that the two were in love with the same man who also perished in the inferno. It is also alleged that Kaitesi and Patricia Arinda who perished in the fire were cousins.
“It is alleged that this could be a result of a love triangle gone wrong and that Ms. Kaitesi Grace Susan in the primary suspect. The case is being handled as murder and further investigations will continue,” Mr Luke Owoyesigire told this publication in a telephone interview last evening.
A police statement released hours after the incident indicated that the apartment belonged to Grace Susan Kaitesi, a businesswoman and resident of the area. The statement shows that the victims had come to the place on Thursday morning before meeting their death in the evening of the same day.
“Patricia Arinda, 24 and Kajumba, were invited for a birthday party which was in actual sense nonexistent. They are said to have arrived in the morning but fire broke out later in the evening while the duo was still in the house, efforts to rescue them proved futile as the two were found dead. The fire started in the evening at about 5:30pm in Nabrweru, Kawempe Division,” in part read the statement.
Two people were confirmed to have perished in the fire, Patricia Arinda and a man that has only been identified as Kajumba. Police have confirmed that they are treating this story as a case of murder.
The Fire brigade team responded to put out the fire, but found that the victims were dead.
Investigations have further shown that the deceased were in actual sense invited for a non-existent birthday party. Social media is also awash with comments and allegations that Kaitesi master minded the duo’s murder.
Police investigations are still underway.
Arinda was buried in Kabale at the weekend where she had come from to Kampala on a call from her cousin to attend a birthday party.
