Mr Bemba Vicent, was detained earlier today in Nabweeru following police investigations about the boda-boda man known as Peter who lost his motorcycle to robbers who attacked him and made off with his motorcycle.
Luke Owoyesigire the Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson told journalists that Bemba was arrested after the security dogs sniffed their way to his residence from the crime scene.
” Bemba is allegedly one of the top tier thieves and he represents some of the thug groups which rob by bodabodas in Kampala at night. In the same night and area of residence, another bodaboda man was murdered before Peter. Its from a blind spot where he was murdered from whereby it lacks lights and any camera be it cctv personal or government cameras,” Mr Owoyesigire said.
However, the few who last saw him said he was in a bar which he left tipsy or probably drunk which the robbers might have taken advantage of as well to murder him. The deceased’s body was taken by police for more investigations and postmortem.
Owoyesigire warned the public especially the women who oftenly use bodabodas as means of transport to be extra careful and elaborated some techniques used by these robbers whereby the one transporting you reduces speed intentionally in order to give his fellows ample time to execute their part so that it looks accidental and as if he wasn’t in the plan.
