Sheikh Ramadan Mubajje the Muft of Uganda has decried the nature of government programs that have left many of the Muslim fraternity sidelined.
Mubajje made the remarks during the state house iftar dinner on Saturday 15 and reasserted the same on Friday 21, during the observance of the Eid Al Fitr prayers at the Gadaffi National Mosque.
While giving his sermon Sheikh Mubaje noted that many of the government programs are characterised with
interests ( Ribba) a thing that is contrary to the Islamic faith and teachings.
“We want financial support that is in line with the teachings of lslam, free from Ribba and that is our
request to the president” Mubajje said.
He added that the government needed to operationalize Islamic banking to enable even the Muslim to acquire
the much needed financial support in their businesses.
Also present the director Sharia Sheikh Ziyad Lubanga emphasized Muslims to unit a good causes as this
was the solution to the many problems that the fraternity was facing.
According to the Fourth Quarterly expenditure release dated April 20, a budget of over is Shs5 trillion
is expected accounting for 22.6% . However programs like the Parish development model account for
over Shs. 264.7 Billion in addition to the Shs.1,059.4 Billion that has already been released
