Only two of the 66 cases of the Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) tests that were conducted last week turned out positive, leaving the doctors surprised, figures at the Internal Affairs Ministry have revealed.
This means 64 children do not belong to their original fathers.
In just this opening week, so far 12 men have carried their children for the DNA tests but they are yet to register a positive one and more are expected.
Mr Simon Mundeyi the spokesperson of the ministry says that the number of men who take children for DNA tests have increased in the last three to four months causing a stampede at the offices.
“Some men are now waking up to the fact that the children they are staying with are not theirs. We shall see more of these cases,” Mr Mundeyi said.
The cases of taking children for DNA sprung up last week when city businessman Michael Kaswuli aka Samona, ordered for DNA tests of his 25 children only to be shocked that 10 of them were not his biological children.
