In a week span, or even less than that, we have skedaddled from Twitter, lied on Truthsocial and finally found some refuge on the thread app at the mercy of Mark Zuckerberg. The ideology of from the frying pan into the fire could not be truer.
But how did we get here? At the start of the week, Elon Mask tweeted about limits, how we were being limited to only 600 tweets. Well at-least for the broke majority of Ugandans who can’t get the blue mark to upgrade their limit to 6000 tweets. He messed around and used some of those 600 for us. Then in minutes, Ugandans started looking for greener pastures like visitors who know when they are no longer welcome. So we ran to the truth app with sacks of lies and we froze the poor application.
I didn’t even know the “Truth” app existed. I guess even in reality, truth is a pretty hidden commodity. A colleague was showing off to my face about Truthsocial . She claimed every social media addict was leaving Twitter for Truth. I complied. That dream didn’t last long.
The beauty of truth is an ugly one. Well at least for the app. I know Trump founded the app after being kicked out of twitter. That ideology alone made me feel like an outcast. I mean I am a good guy. Ugandans flocked into the application like flies. We broke the app, only to delete it after and make another run back to Twitter.
Yesterday, Mark Zuckerberg, if not in a suicidal move introduced the Thread. And again I was the last to know. I walked into the application only to find very many celebrities and nobodies already grumbling in the feeds. With virgin statements like “I am new here “. My love, we are all new to the application. The app was made yesterday.
But I love the social media scandal. I love how billionaires are creating new platforms to hold us lazy in bed tweeting, truthing and threading. As they change the world one day at a time. But that’s unfair. We lead our own lives. If you didn’t know about the new app. Now you do.
