The Uganda Police Force has decided to chain up with India through an agreement they are to sign with Rajagiri Hospital in Kochi, India aiming at the provision of improved medical services to the UPF staff members at very friendly rates.
According to the Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, it is a significant welfare step, where Rajagari Hospital is fostering partnerships and cooperation with UPF and it is the Police’s vision that every officer deserves the right to compassion, dignity, and comfort as they work.
“As the UPF, we are happy to fulfill our social responsibility obligations by providing and attending to the needs of our police staff,” Enanga emphasizes.
This happens 2 months after police officers detained several protesting intern doctors, who were demanding government similar things to be agreed between the UPF and Rojagari Hospital of India
It should be noted that 3 years ago police officers were suggested for, psychological well-being tests following their rampant mistreatment, and brutalizing of suspects and victims in the guise of poor treatment especially when it came to their health.
Will this agreement help in changing this narrative?
For the police officers in need of medical assistance, arrangements will be made for them to seek treatment at Rajagari while the agreement and cooperation details will be shared after its official signing.
