Mr Juach said the two countries will work together with the National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) on both sides to ensure the quality of the products
“The trucks where realised and back to Uganda now but we resolved to have close coordination between our two bureau of standards and that’s the baseline.” Said Amb. Simon Juach.
“People need to leaen from that situation and manage future incidents like this better because we can not afford to affect the trading in between Uganda and South Sudan, our people relay on this so we’re both affected and we can not accept that.” Juach added.
Among other issues, the ambassador also expressed regret over the fact that those who charge visa fees to South Sudanese citizens when coming to Uganda while it was mandated that all East African countries traveling on their National IDs do not need visas when travelling.
He urged South Sudanese to pray for their country to overcome the violence and achieve peace as soon as possible.
He also said that there are unknown people who have been attacking the businessmen of Uganda killing them and damaging their property, the people he said are envying their relationship with the Ugandan government and an investigation is being conducted to identify them.
“The South Sudan government is not ready to host the envy group of people who want to disrupt the historical relationship between South Sudan and Uganda, we shall identify them.” Added Simon Juach the Ambassador.
Hilary Onek, Minister of Disaster and Refugees in Uganda, who was the chief guest urged South Sudanese to maintain unity and avoid linguistic and cultural differences in their country and urged them to emulate Uganda in maintaining peace and security.
“You people must work together and get united… I will urge you to emulate the examples of Uganda, there is no point if someone speaks a different language or point from yours that is a creation from God it’s not your creation you must coexist because your destination is one.” Said Eng. Hilary Onek Minister of Disaster and Refugees in Uganda.
Onek also said the government of Uganda has also fought to ensure that the refugees in the country are brought together into one person and here he urged the South Sudanese ambassador to fight entirely to ensure that they unite their people to end their differences.
He also promised the South Sudanese government that they will stand with the country to ensure that peace is restored and urged them as they are going to their presidential elections to avoid leaders who will bring divisive politics to their country.
It should remembered that South Sudan got their independence from Sudan on the 9th July 2011 as the outcome of the 2005 peace agreement that ended Africa’s longest running civil war. Under the president H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit, the youngest country houses over 60 different major ethnic groups.
