Upon his arrival, Bobi Wine was picked from the aircraft and bundled into a waiting car and whisked away by men wearing plain clothes led by security cars to his home in Magere,Wakiso District.
The immigrations have not yet clarified which form of clearances the musician turned politician has missed.Mr Simon Mundeyi ,the spokesperson of the immigrations said he wasn’t sure and he needed time to clarify from the authorities from the airport.
‘’Let me get back to you ,let me inquire from the people at the airport and see how they handled it “ Mr Mundeyi said.
When he reached his Magere home, Bobi Wine found his home surrounded by security operatives in both military and police uniforms.He gave a short briefing in the media indicating that he was not allowed even to go through immigration process.
“As we speak right now I am officially not in Uganda because I didn’t go through immigrations they picked me illegally like you saw and as we speak right now I am under house arrest because my house is surrounded by soldiers and police allover,” Mr Kyagulanyi said.
shortly after the incidents at Entebbe Airport, the Uganda Police made a statement indicating that there had not been any scuffle and that Bobi Wine had been delivered back to his home.
“We wish to inform the public that the NUP President, Hon. Kyagulanyi Robert was successfully escorted by our security team from Entebbe to his home in Magere. He reached his home around 11.20am, and is with his family and friends. Disregard rumors of his arrest by propagandists. Meanwhile, business activities and movements along Entebbe road, within Kampala and Gayaza, are flowing smoothly,” in part read the police statement.
In the melee, hundreds of people were tortured and arrested by security operatives including journalists who were picked up from the airport and detained for more than five hours at Entebbe Central Police Station.Kyagulanyi has also condemned this act.
“I want to sympathise with the journalists who were beaten so bad today, that is what we are fighting against and never again shall it that in a new Uganda Journalists shall be assaulted like this.On the toll I saw Mayor Mugambe Paul being pulled out of his car,I saw journalists ,I saw our camera person Motiv Kasagga beaten so badly we condemn that and we know that in the new Uganda that shall not happen again,”Kyagulanyi said.
Kyagulanyi was expected to land at Entebbe International Airport at 10:20 today where he was waited to be welcomed by his supportes and leaders from the National Unity Platform then later lead a procession to Kampala city.
