Stanbic Bank Uganda has appointed Ronald Makata as its new Chief Finance and Value Management Officer, succeeding Abraham Ongenge, who has transitioned to Stanbic Bank Kenya as the Executive Head for Personal and Private Banking.
Makata’s journey with Stanbic Bank commenced in 2013 when he joined as the Manager of Financial Reporting. Since then, he has ascended through various key positions, showcasing his expertise in financial control, banking solutions, and treasury and capital management. Notably, Makata played a pivotal role in spearheading transformative initiatives within the bank, such as reinforcing financial controls across the African landscape, executing business transformation projects, simplifying client processes, and championing digitization endeavors.
Stanbic Bank’s Chief Executive, Anne Juuko, expressed confidence in Makata’s capabilities, emphasizing his track record of not only driving impactful assignments but also his commitment to nurturing young professionals within the organization. She stated, “His experience and passion for uplifting young professionals, supporting them through their career journeys…is particularly exciting for our young professionals in the bank.”

Ronald Makata brings to his new role an extensive background as a Financial Executive, amassing over 17 years of experience in the Financial Services sector. His career began at Barclays Uganda, where he climbed the ranks to become the Manager of Financial Reporting. Makata is a certified coach and professional accountant, holding an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Makerere University, and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a member of the Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (CPA). His unique blend of qualifications and practical experience positions him as a key asset for Stanbic Bank Uganda’s continued success and growth.
