According to UNEB candidature increased by 15,008 (4.3%) from 349,459, in 2022 to 364,469 in 2023 The candidates sat from 3,808 examination centers. Of these candidates,118,633 (32.5%) were USE beneficiaries.
The Minister of Education Mrs Museveni Kataha Janat said “boys report general better performance than the girls in the results being released”.
“But Female candidates performed better than males in English Language. Males perform better in History, Geography, the Sciences and Commerce. In Chemistry, however, the male candidates show better performance”,she added.
According to Mr. Dan Odongo,Executive Director of UNEB,there was a significant improvement in English Language, Religious Education,Mathematics and Biology. A drop was recorded in History, Agriculture and Physics. Performance in the other subjects have remained comparable.
Figures from UNEB shows that male students performed better in Division1 with 20.1% by 15.8 Females and in Division 2 with 24% by 22.9 Females,Division 3 with 22.5% males by 23.7% females,Division 4 with 28.9% male by 33.4% and Division 9 with 4.0 Male by 4.2% Female.
According to the general performance between 2022 and 2023, the performances improved from 46,667 to 64,782 candidates in Division 1 in 2023.
