Following a series of exposure and numerous allegations of misappropriation of funds by parliament in what was dubbed as Uganda Parliament Exhibition on X former Twitter, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has come out and baptized the drivers of this social media compaign as traitors and agents of ‘bad’ foreigners.
In what has been publicly interpreted as corruption and irrational expenditure, Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, has found her self at the center point of all allegations however claiming it to be an attack on her personally and her institution
In one of the sitting speaker was on record saying, “I will never give you an answer on hearsay and rumor-mongering. We are not going to run this House on rumor-mongering,” this when a motion was moved to respond to what was then fronted as issues of National importance.
This was thus echoed by the president during the commissioning of Bukedea Teaching Hospital and College of Health Sciences in Bukedea District, a hospital built by Rt. Hon. Among on Saturday 23 were he revealed that the real Ugandan problem were the traitors who worked for foreigners but not the Speaker or Members of Parliament.
Noting that these were not mistake makers, neither were they learners who needed advice but outright traitors working against the Country’s goals.
“First of all, they are working for foreigners but moreover working for bad types of foreigners like homosexuals and imperialists who want Africans to be slaves again,” he stressed.
The President further revealed that he was monitoring through the intelligence to see what has been going on regarding the social media attacks against Rt. Hon. Among.
“How can you talk so much on social media about Anita Among, how about those working for foreigners? We are going to expose those traitors,” he assured.
In one of the posts by the leading exhibitors and founder #UGExhibition, were numerous issues including the roads, health sector, education among others have been put under spot light, Jim Spire Ssentongo Dr. on X wrote, I’m authoritatively aware that ‘Parliament’ has secretly asked UCC @UCC_Official for all my communication details and the job has started – including tracing who I talk to, what, when, where, where I stay, the time of day/night I last communicate, movements, etc. This may include intentions to harm me. UCC, you may accept to be used in those evil selfish schemes, but whatever you are doing, I’m aware – because there are many people in there that are not happy with the trend we are taking, and that appreciate our cause in demanding for accountability and responsive service. They pay taxes too, and wish to be served better. Whether the law gives Parliament and UCC that power over people they should be representing/serving may not matter now. But it will matter some day – even if I won’t be there.”
Adding, “It is unfortunate that this is how they respond to public demands for them to account to tax payers/ citizens, whom they purport to represent. How we got to this level of impunity and abuse of citizens and how we get out of it should concern us all – regardless of political affiliation. The system we’ve built is not sustainable and not safe for any of us and our children, including those currently benefitting from it. You are riding a tiger and are thrilled by its speed, but it will eat you too.”
The President then thanked the Speaker for working closely with the whole government system, a thing he said has helped to hinder standoffs.
“I really want to salute Anita Among, whatever she may want to know I will tell her because we are all here, we all live here you don’t need to put her on social media, that means there’s something wrong with you,” he said.
Commending Rt. Hon. Among for changing the landscape of the Bukedea, explaining that prior, the place was a market, but he ordered the local government to give the Speaker land so that she can add value to it.
“She has changed the landscape here and created employment for many. This is an innovative and imaginative young person using innovative ways to solve problems.”
Rt. Hon. Among thanked President Museveni for supporting and keeping her dreams alive.
