Airtel Uganda announced the recognition today, celebrating the renewal of its two critical ISO certificates: the ISO 27001:2022 for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) and the ISO 22301:2019 for Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS).
Manoj Murali, Managing Director of Airtel Uganda, expressed pride in the achievement.
“We are pleased to be independently recognized for our demonstrated commitment to delivering world-class practices in information systems security management. The ISO certification is a vote of confidence in our people, processes, technology, and governance of information as we connect Ugandans to opportunities,” Murali said.
He emphasized Airtel Uganda’s dedication to innovation and excellence.
“As an innovative technology-enabler, Airtel Uganda will continue to adopt and deploy the best information security management ICTs. We have trained and certified staff who have dedicated their professional lives to ensuring that information security is upheld as we transform Uganda through our affordable products, services, and solutions.”
The certification follows a thorough evaluation by ISO experts in March this year. The assessment covered various aspects of Airtel Uganda’s operations, including network planning, professionalism, security of network operations, and the supporting infrastructure, such as operational support systems, transmission, core, value-added services, and billing systems.
Additionally, ISO evaluated Airtel Uganda’s commitment to international standards for Business Continuity Management. This included an examination of their disaster recovery plans, resources, and personnel expertise to ensure robust business continuity management systems are in place.
David Birungi, Airtel Uganda’s Public Relations Manager, highlighted the importance of international standards.
“International standards are crucial for companies like ours to adhere to. These standards ensure the daily products and services you use are safe, reliable, and of high quality. They also guide businesses towards adopting sustainable and ethical practices, ultimately creating a future where customer purchases not only excel in performance but also safeguard our planet. At Airtel, we are committed to continuously raising the standards of the services we provide in the communities we serve,” Birungi stated.
The renewal of these ISO certifications underscores Airtel Uganda’s commitment to maintaining high standards in information security and business continuity, ensuring their services remain reliable, secure, and resilient.
