The Uganda Red Cross Society launched First-Aid training school and commercial ambulance services for those who can pay for use.
During the launch on Friday 09thDecember,URCS General Secretary Robert Kwesiga emphasized that Uganda Red Cross Society will continue giving free first aid and ambulances to the vulnerable.
“We are making a distinction, the ambulances doing public health emergency will be assigned to the duty as we continue Saving millions of lives as we have done over the years,” Mr Kwesiga said.
Kwesiga also added that they have decided to make some money from ambulances got from other sources and not part of the public service and promised to brand them differently to avoid confusion.
“We have made a deliberate effort to make them distinct from the public ones so that public is not confused,” Mr Kwesiga added.
Nkonge Douglaus Assistant Commissioner occupational safety applauded URCS for coming up with the initiative of training first aid emergencies in places in of work.
“We are happy that Red Cross came up with an initiative to train people who will be responding to emergencies in the work places, because all those hours you spend at work something can definitely happen, you either get injured or fall sick,” Mr Nkonge said.
