The CHAN tournament is a competition played between Africa’s best national teams but exclusively using athletes playing in the domestic leagues.
Uganda has made six appearances in this tournament, 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020 the sixth being the one that kicks off on Friday in Algeria.
Current Vipers SC hit man Yunus Ssentamu scored Uganda’s 1st goal in the CHAN tournament.
The current Uganda Cranes squad in Algeria has eight (8) players who have featured before at the CHAN Finals.
The experience stretches from the 2018 Finals in Morocco through to the 2020 Finals hosted by Cameroon in 2021.
Milton Karisa (2018, 2020, and 2022)

Kariisa is the most experienced of the players as he is appearing at his third CHAN Finals.

Uganda cranes is in group B together with DR Congo, Ivory Coast, and Senegal.
Micho’s boys will play their first game on Saturday 14th January 2022 against DR Congo at 7 PM.
The Uganda cranes have already arrived in Algeria and are already preparing for their first game on Saturday.
