Residents of Kyambuzi Village in Kichwamba Sub County Rubirizi district have declined to bury one of their own believed to have been murdered by his wife and Children and rejected the postmortem report.
Residents allege that Night Imelda 50 connived with her children and killed her husband Emmanuel Kiiza 56 and dumped his body in the compound. They filed a report to police indicating that Kiiza had died of excessive alcohol.
Residents say that an unidentified person informed them verbally that Kiiza had died of excessive alcohol consumption and that a written copy from Kitagata hospital would be delivered later. However, residents lost their cool when they found a jerrycan containing blood and a blood-stained mattress and a pair of trousers in the banana plantations shortly before the deceased’s burial.
The residents rampaged and torched the suspect’s home, banana plantation and livestock demanding an autopsy report. They took the body to Kilembe Hospital for another examination, which confirmed that Kiiza was murdered.
Agnes Kyokusiima a resident says they had accepted the first verbal report but to their surprise, they found the clothes of the deceased covered in blood, which proves that he was murdered. She wants the doctor behind the report penalized for issuing a false report.
Denis Musiime, the LC I Chairperson of Kyambuzi village, says that they were very calm until the police took the body for postmortem and brought a false report.
Wilbert Tindyebwa, a resident says that the suspects collected the deceased’s blood creating suspicion that they wanted it for ritual sacrifice. He faults the doctor who issued the first report for pocketing a bribe to falsify his death.
Emmanuel Guma, a catechist in Bushonga centre says the deceased’s wife had previously approached him for advice and counselling on domestic violence in her home. Brodz Kazoora, the LC III Chairperson of Kichwamba Sub County also wants the doctor to be penalized for giving the wrong report.
He says it is unfortunate that he had planned to invite the husband who is now deceased for talks over domestic violence. Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson, says that have commenced investigations into the false autopsy report.
He says they have allowed the residents to bury the deceased while Night Imelda will stay in custody as they are looking for his accomplices.
