Brig Hassan Kimbowa has been appointed as the new Adjutant General of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) headquarters in Mbuya.
An Adjutant General is the overall administrative officer majorly tasked with the administration and preservation of personnel records. Other duties of an Adjutant General include maintaining a register of all commission soldiers, and controlling and maintaining the military property in good shape.
The list containing Brig Kimbowa’s appointment has 35 appointments, among them three Major Generals, 12 Brigadier Generals, 14 Colonels and six Lieutenant Colonels who were deployed by President Yoweri Museveni, the Commander in Chief of armed forces.
The other appointments include Maj. Gen. Hudson Mukasa who has been appointed Deputy General Officer commanding reserve forces, Maj. Gen George Igumba, who has been appointed Commandant of the Senior Command and Staff College-Kimaka, to be deputised by Col Silver Changa Muhwezi, while Maj. Gen Lucky Kidega takes over as Camp Commandant and Brig. Gen Godwin Karugaba becomes the Deputy Chief of Logistics and Administration.
The others are Brig. Gen Ssenkumba Eugene Ssebugwaawo who takes over as the Chief of Personnel and Administration. He will be deputised by Maj. Gen Geoffrey Kaweesa Kigozi who has been appointed Deputy Chief of Personnel and Administration while Brig. Gem Julius Bagonza takes over as the Director of Personnel and Administration at the Land Forces.
Brig. Gen Mwanje Sekiranda has been appointed Chief of Staff in charge of Land Forces, Brig Gen Ronald Solomon Bigirwa, sent to Tanzania as the Defence Advisor, and Brig. Gen Stephen Tumwesigye Kashure was appointed Chief of Staff in Charge of Uganda Rapid Deployment Capability Centre.
On the same list is Brig. Gen Nicholas Ocan who has been appointed the Defence Advisor in Burundi, Brig Gen Francis Chemengich Chemo-Defence Advisor for Somalia, Col Fred zakye who has been sent to Somalia as a defence Advisor, Col Daniel Erasmus Omoding who is heading to Brussels, Belgium, Col Simon Peter Oyoo who is heading to India, Lt Col Chris Damulira, who is heading to Saudi Arabia and Col Peter Buyungo who takes over as Defence Advisor in the United States of America.
Brigadier Metland Bitumbika is now the General Manager of the Defence Forces Shop, Brig. Gen Augustine Kamyuka Kyazze takes over the Defence General Deport as Commandant, Col Justus Besisira becomes the Director in Charge of Recruitment while Col Herbert Kyabihende Makanga becomes the Deputy Chief Inspector General of Military Equipment.
The Royal Guards will be commanded by Col James Kato Kalyebara, Col David Tweheyo takes over as the Secretary of the National Defence College, while Col Emmanuel David Muhanguzi is appointed acting Chief of Policy and Plans and Col. Nicholas Nyesiga is the new Director of Personnel.
Col Deo Akiiki has bounced back as deputy UPDF Spokesperson replacing Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu who has been appointed to deputise Col Paddy Ankunda as Director of Strategic Communications (STRACOM). The appointment also confirmed the appointment of Col Allan Masiko as the Director of the Special Forces Command to be deputised by Lt Col Duncan Kafeero.
Lt Col Samson Henry Nabeeta is now the Director Estates, Lt Col Ronald Kagyenyi has been appointed Director Inspectorate, Lt Col Moses Wilson Ssentongo who was appointed Director Music, and Lt Col Betty Musuya Wanyera appointed Director Women Affairs.
