Former Minister Abdul Naduuli’s son Sulayiman Jakana Nadduli 37 has been found dead at his home in Wobulenzi, Luwero District.
In September, Jakana was arrested over charges of promoting sectarianism and was released on bail on September 21 by the Luwero Chief Magistrate’s court after spending two weeks in jail.
The former contestant for Nakaseke Central MP was accused of uploading a video on YouTube promoting sectarianism against Banyankole and Banyarwanda contrary to section 41(1) of the penal code act.
Jakana was ordered to pay a Shs 5 million cash bail at Luwero Magistrate’s court and his two sureties were bonded Shs. 10 million each non-cash.
According to NUP Secretary General David Rubongoya who claims to have spoken to the late on Saturday, Jakana sounded fine and it is therefore very shocking that he is now no more.
“We’ve woken up to the terrible news of the untimely passing of our brother Jakana Nadduli,”… I spoke to Jakana on Saturday and he sounded fine. Terrible news. Inna lillahi wa inallah-e-raji’oon.”
The cause of death of Jakana is yet to be established.
