At least 2 bodies have been recovered from the Lake Victoria boat accident bringing to 14, the toll of death of the ill-fated fatal incident that happened on August 2.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson said that the search is still ongoing.
“As of August 9, 2023, 14 bodies had been recovered by the rescue teams but the search is still ongoing with anticipation that some more people could be still stuck in the waters,” Onyango told News 24/7.
Following the boat accidents which occurred on August 2, 2023, on Lake Victoria the police and rescue have managed to recover more bodies of the deceased which are transported to Mulago City Mortuary.
On the 5th/Aug/2023 the recovered were, Nankya Winnine aged 29, Rugose Zam Mutesi Angel aged 35, Nabisele Galdyce aged 40, Namulondo Proscovia aged 44years Najjuma Edith aged 30 years Nsabimana Innocent aged 35 years Wabwiire Dickson aged 30years Un identified female adult, as of 6th only Okumu Derek aged 23 and Karegyeya Francis aged 28 and on the 7th it was Mukutuwa Nicholas aged 26 Taremwa Emmanuel aged 22 years, Ssimbwa Moses Kayongo alias Tony aged 27 years and Nakato Grace aged 18years.
It should be noted that this happened after the police only recovered 5 bodies on the first rescue attempt.
