Kawempe North Member of Parliament Segirinya Muhammad in Amsterdam Netherlands revealed to Kampala-based Honorable Muhammad Nsereko that he is battling skin cancer via a video call today around dawn. According to Segirinya, doctors working on him unveil new catastrophic diseases and infections of which the newer diseases, the higher the bills. ”I am battling skin cancer Honorable, lungs are occupied by an infection,” Segirinya to Nsereko,” they are telling me they are supposed to cut through the heart,”. He said that he was first admitted to a hospital located in Nairobi which referred him to another found in Germany however, this also alluded him to UMC hospital where he is now, located in Amsterdam the capital of the Netherlands. Unfortunately, the Parliament of Uganda refused to give him any kind of assistance yet they have been helping others according to Segirinya. “What hurts me most is parliament is telling people how it has helped me yet they refused,” added Segirinya in total disbelief and disappointment. “I also saw this on Kato’s (Lubwama) case,” Nsereko also said. This call happened because Segirinya was trying to thank Nsereko for the financial assistance of 5 Uganda million shillings he sent to him. “My brother Kasagga called and informed me that Honorable has sent us 5 million for your hospital bill, thank you for such a kind heart,” with a sighing voice, Segirinya said. It should be noted that Nsereko sent this financial help after receiving an unknown message to do with Segirinya’s illness. Kawempe North’s MP told Nsereko that the reason why he never asked or sought for help while in Nairobi was because he could handle it all by himself but things twisted when he had to fly into Europe for improved services. UMC’s bill is approximately 80 million Uganda shillings at the moment which is still increasing because they are supposed to have him for 2 months for proper medication and supervision. Segirinya also informed Kampala Central’s representative that he was taken through an endoscopy where a camera is passed through the mouth and then throat downward into the inner body, this made him unconscious for over 5 hours. In addition to that, another similar test was done whereby a similar cabled camera was used, this time it passed through the nose to the same destinations. After these tests, doctors also found two warts on the MP’s liver which need to be cut off as soon as possible. Furthermore, Segirinya broke down while informing Nsereko that UMC said they will keep him as a cleaner or laundry attendant in case, he fails to pay their bill which increases often since they look at healing first then payments come in last. “You don’t even know how many years it can take to complete paying their money,” while coughing and sighing, said Segirinya said. What about MPs’ insurance? While on the call, both Nsereko and Segirinya agreed that as Members of Parliament, they get health insurance but this only works in Uganda meaning that once an MP moves out of the country for better health services, he or she uses their own money to pay any bill.
