In a statement released by the Chairperson Election Management Committee, Mercy Walukamba, NUP called upon members willing to carry their flag for the position to submit their documents by Wednesday February 21.
“Expression of interest will be received from Friday 16th at 9:00Am to Wednesday 21, 12:00 Noon, statement reads in part. Adding, “All interested Members are requested to submit written applications at the party Secretariat in Makerere- Kavule or send them by email.
Walukamba said that all applicants must attach a copy of proof for the party membership, National Identification Card, Curriculum Vitae and Certified copies of academic qualifications.
The position of Dokolo District Woman MP fell vacant after veteran politician and member of opposition Party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Cecilia Ogwal passed on early last month.
So far over 13 people have expressed interest in the position including some members of FDC, Najjanankumbi which Dr Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal, the daughter of the deceased to carry forward her mother’s legacy.
Uganda Peoples Congress ( UPC) also a strong hold in the area, expressed her willingness to join the race revealing on Wednesday how they were yet to unveil a strong and worthy flag bearer and that the national and local leadership of the party were working hand in hand to organize the Dokolo District Conference that will give birth to the party representatives for all vacant elective positions as declared by the commission.
According to the electoral Commission who carry the mandate to prepare and hold elections, the Polling day for the woman representative in parliament, sub county councilor for Adagmon Parish,woman councillor for Agoga parish and the sub county councillor for Apenyang parish will take place on March 21st 2024.
The Electoral Commission thus since called upon all stakeholders in Dokolo district to participate in these activities following guidelines for the by elections.
